Services
At Nexia Smith & Williamson we strongly believe the audit process, although a statutory requirement, can add value to any business and assist the directors in their decision-making process. We see the audit as an opportunity to challenge the directors and identify areas for improvement and efficiency.
Our audit services include:
- statutory audit, whether under Companies Act or other legislation
- other statutory reports required from registered auditors under legislation
- regulatory reports for professional bodies such as, the Financial Services Authority (FSA)The Law Society, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and others
- other regulated audits for various industry sectors, such as publishing
- pension fund audits
Our approach to the audit process is to ensure the project is well planned and produces no surprises. A key step is to ensure the scope of our work is agreed and explained in advance and all relevant issues are discussed as they arise.
During the audit we maintain contact with clients on a regular basis to monitor progress. At the conclusion of on-site work, prompt and effective reporting is essential. Appropriate closing meetings will be held with clients and rather than solely relying on formal management letters, we find that senior management teams and non-executive directors, partners or trustees are often better informed by receiving copies of the minutes of these closing meetings.
